2nd Edition of LG Viewty! The Viewty Smart!
LG Viewty Smart LG-GC900

SEOUL, South Korea - LG Electronics has officially announced its long-awaited Viewty 2 mobile phone, going by the model GC900. The phone has an 8 megapixel camera, and its features are centered around this component.
The Viewty Smart runs on LG’s S-Class User Interface, which was launched with the KM900 Arena. The user interface is said to be easy-to-use, and the camera interface itself has been improved, following a survey conducted by LG in 14 countries, including the U.S., U.K., France, Brazil, Russia, India and China, which showed that users find current camera application interfaces too complicated to use.
The device has a 3″ touchscreen display with WVGA resolution (800×480 pixels), HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, A-GPS, 1.5GB of internal memory, and it supports microSD memory cards.
Among the features of the camera, users can find geo-tagging, thanks to A-GPS connectivity; Intelligent Shot Mode, which is an improved “automatic” camera mode that selects the best settings for a particular scene; ISO 1600 sensitivity, for clear night-time images without flash use, although this specification is already present in other 8 megapixel-bearing camera-phones; DVD-quality video recording; and pre-defined modes, such as Touch Shot, Art Shot, Beauty Shot, Panorama Shot and Continuous Shot.
Unfortunately, only a LED flash is available on the camera, instead of a Xenon flash, which would be ideal for night-time image capture.
The user interface features of the GC900 allow the user to switch shot modes with an on-screen dial, and zoom in and out by turning one’s finger in circular motion, or to pinch the image in or out, as one would in a multi-touch screen.
“With Viewty we completely changed the way people looked at camera phones. For the first time, people didn’t have to put up with poor image quality for the convenience of using the cameras on their mobile phones”, said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With Viewty Smart we’ll change perceptions again. It won’t be about having a camera phone that equals the quality of a standalone digital camera. It will be about having a smart camera phone that takes better pictures and is easier to use than a standalone digital camera”.
